Clinical Social Work Associates must accrue 3000 hours of supervised, post-graduate experience per the Washington Department of Health’s regulations. Associates must have a minimum of 1000 direct client contact hours and 100 supervision hours with an LICSW or equally licensed mental health professional.
Of the 100 supervision hours, 70 hours must be with a LICSW and 60 must be one-on-one supervision. The remaining hours may be accrued through one-on-one or group supervision.

California
Associate Clinical Social Workers must accrue a total of 3000 hours over 104 weeks and may be supervised by an LMFT, LCSW, LPCC, Licensed Psychologist, Licensed Physician, or LEP. A minimum of 1700 hours and 13 weeks must be supervised by an LCSW and a maximum of 1200 hours may be supervised by an LEP.
